There are tips that I got from my former professor in technical writing. He, Prof. Milan, noticed that I create a lot of erroneous stuff in my works. We were once asked to do an "About Yourself" piece and I saw my paper with a lot of red marks. Most of my corrected works are on punctuations and syntax. I learned that the punctuation I use are mostly used wrongly. Like, I just learned the difference of an en-dash (smaller) and em-dash (larger). Also, using colon and semicolon at their best functions. I also took notice of the excessive use of punctuation. Prof. Milan stressed that remarks like "!!!" and "!?" are strictly prohibited.
The next time I wrote essays I was really just so careful with all of these. I have been really watchful of my tenses, too. When not to use perfect tenses and simple tenses. But I am re-working on my prepositions as they are really hard to master. I wish my attention span would be wider so that I will not be experiencing migraine whenever I try to finish one grammar book. I really need to voraciously read if I intend to be better.
After some time, I noticed that there are so many other rules to keep in mind. So many grammar books to consult.
I am positive that in due time, I would be perfectly sensible and mindful with all of these.
