Romance in the Time of Today
10-04-10

I post this question: Has romance today (compared to eras ago -as when courtship in the Victorian period, or the Shakespearean age) already vanished or is it just tucked away blurred in today's so called modern world? Maybe today's definition and affirmation of what "romantic" is has not fully disappeared nor dramatically changed from the time of noble chivalry; as the essence and flame of romance is still very much alive.

While knights and noble men were the thing back in the day, they pursued their ladies by the valor of courtship; chasing after them more conservatively as opposed to ways that are probably regarded to be aggressive and more open today as following etiquette or a certain code. Reality today though is this: knights no longer ride around with their striding white horses journeying from lands far away; because the knights of today are the bachelors and gentlemen who drive around the city on four wheels, at the least, but still have hearts like brave knights do (I hope).

Bringing the discussion a little bit closer to home, most of the eligible bachelors, rather suitors in the Philippines still go through with the motion of pangliligaw or courtship. Like the Victorians, Filipina women adopted their use of the common items used today like fans and handkerchiefs, which were suggestively flirtatious in attracting the men's attention. Writing love letters and sending cards to each other were considered to be more private. While sending gifts as ‘love tokens' -like flowers, chocolates and jewelry top the list of the most romantic things to give and receive professing one's intentions to another publicly.

So, to the avant garde knights in their shinning-armor, shower the lady with your signature love token by send flowers to Philippines and send gifts to Philippines even if you're ocean's and miles away. She'll surely appreciate a romantic gesture knowing you've got her in your thoughts. As to the ladies-in-waiting, did you know that being presented with a bouquet of these blossoms signified that a courtship had begun -back in the Victorian era? But being the usual recipients of these blooming and fragrant creations today also meant to symbolize affection for a loved one. Why not choose the option to send flowers Philippines and romance your man as well?

Whether you are the wooed or "wooer" through traditional courtly love or a more modern approach to love these days, no matter how you look at it, will always resemble some things of the past -that is, by the act of courting, to seek a display of values and virtuousness in your "object of affection".

Perhaps the insights from some men here in the Philippines can share their thoughts on romance and give the women an idea as to how men think of romance: Raph says "Romance is a special bond between two people about a more innate attraction. For me, when this happens, I realize that heaven is not a place, but rather a special moment. And when that moment comes, it lasts forever". JP adds that "romance can be as simple as spending quality time with the person you love. It can also be expressed in doing special favors for her. Romance would be making the person you're with feel special...making her feel that you put her above others."

Hopeless romantic or not, we have the natural tendency to express our feelings, especially of affection and care. What better way to show how we feel than by constant reminders and sweet nothings? From across the miles you can and send flowers to Philippines; and even if you are seas apart, you can also do so by the click of a button to send gift Philippines.
